Upstart Vancouver Company Featured at 65th Annual Toy and Hobby Fair

(Vancouver) Bumblz Media announced today that they will be introducing their first music CD Bumblz Tunes: Songs in the Key of Bee to retailers at the 65th Annual Canadian Toy and Hobby Fair in Toronto (January 29th-31st, 2005). The new CD is a compilation of children’s music that is both drawn from, and inspired by their 3D animated direct-to-video series Bumblz.

Bumblz Media is pleased to report that both the new CD, and their video debut, Bumblz: Clubhouse Friends will be featured this year under the Toy and Hobby Fair’s Bright Ideas program. The Bright Ideas program lists the best new products available to retailers in 2005. The CD will officially be available to the public on February 1, 2005.

In July of 2004, Bumblz Media made their debut in the children’s video market with Bumblz: Clubhouse Friends. They began with two independent retailers in Vancouver and by December of 2004 they had a total of fifteen stores selling Bumblz videos. Bumblz Media expects to have at least thirty British Columbia retail partners by the spring and more than sixty stores across Canada when the second Bumblz video is released later this year.

A big part of the Bumblz Media marketing approach is based on building a strong, supportive community among Canadian retailers who believe in developing high quality, made-in-Canada productions like Bumblz. “We want independent Canadian retailers to understand the importance of carrying unique products like Bumblz videos and music CDs that their customers won’t be able find in competing discount stores,” says Bumblz Media President Ed Konyha.

Bumblz: Clubhouse Friends is available to American and international consumers on the web through Amazon.com and through the official Bumblz web site, www.bumblz.com. Both web sites will be selling Bumblz Tunes: Songs in the Key of Bee when it is officially released in February. Bumblz Media will also be expanding into the American independent retail market later this year.

Biographical Information

Bumblz creators Ed and Dan Konyha grew up in Windsor, Ontario but moved to Vancouver in the early 90’s to pursue careers in the film industry. In 2002, their animated short, Something Fishy, was purchased by Revolution Studios and distributed with the Dana Carvey Comedy, The Master of Disguise.

In June of 2003, they left jobs at a Vancouver animation studio to pursue their dream of developing a children’s direct-to-video franchise about an adventure seeking bee named Bumblz.

After forming the new company, Ed and Dan were joined by Dag Livgard, a local musician and animator who has become an integral part of the creative team. Dan and Dag are the song writing team for the Bumblz Media, creating all the music for both the Bumblz videos and Music CDs.
